Skip2bfit Thanet Skipping Challenge-Results 27th March 2009We held our 6th Skip2bfit Thanet Primary Schools skipping Challenge day on the morning of 27th March 2009 at Ramsgate Sports Centre. The event was supported by TDC, Thanet Leisure Force, Winterwood Farms and Sainsbury’s and every Primary school in Thanet was invited to attend this free event.
We had 19 teams attending with 4 girls and 4 boys in each team. Prizes are awarded for the top teams in junior and infant categories. The juniors were totally dominated by defending champions St Peter’s this year, who won the individual cup, the doubles cup, the quartet cup and the School Challenge Cup. The team put in a great performance with the top skipper Abigail achieving a high score of 437 skips in 2 minutes, which is the highest ever score that skip2bfit has ever recorded in a 2 minute skip. St Peters run a skip2bfit lunchtime club and this made a huge difference in the outcome today.
Hon Roger Gale MP attended this year to hand out prizes together with Sandy Ezekiel ( Leader of TDC) and Thanet South Conservative Parliamentary Candidate Laura Sandys. There was also a special appearance from the new Skip2bfit mascot,  Mr Blueberry.

Two additional awards were also handed out this year. A Best Effort Cup was given to St Nicholas school for their support in coming along every year to this event. The top girl ( Abigail from St Peter’s ) and top boy ( Alex from St Peter’s ) were also given a months free membership to the new junior gym at Ramsgate Sports Centre, thanks to Thanet Leisure Force.
Skip2bfit would like to thank all the schools who made the effort to bring their children along to this event. The children attending were all given a free skip2bfit rope, London 2012 skip2bfit gold medal and Thanet Leisure Force provided free day passes for every child that attended to use at the new Junior Gym.There was free fruit and smoothies available on the day, from Skip2bfit sponsor’s Winterwood Farms, and free water, provided by Sainsbury’s Westwood. The results were as follows for a 2 minute skip:-
