Hammersmith & Fulham Skip2bfit Challenge DayHammersmith and Fulham held their first skip2bfit skipping Challenge event on 7th November 2008. The event was attended by seven primary schools and was a great success with the schools competing against each other to win the trophies. Three of the schools brought both a junior and an infant team with them. As this was the first event of this kind in Hammersmith & Fulham the schools did not know what they were letting themselves in for but they soon realised how much fun it was.
Every primary school across Hammersmith & Fulham was invited to this free fun event and all the children attending received a free rope and a medal. They were also provided with a bottle of water courtesy of Sainsbury's and blueberries courtesy of Winterwood farms Ltd & Berryworld Ltd who all sponsor skip2bfit.
The day had been arranged through Hammersmith & Fulham Sports Development and School Sport Partnership and was funded through the Big Lottery Fund.
The schools who attended were:-

St Peter's
St Mary's
Lena Gardens
St John's
Sir John Lilly
Fulham Primary
Larmenier & Sacred Heart

Founder of Skip2bfit,John McCormack who lead the event said:-

"I would like to thank all the teams for taking part and trying their best. In particular I would like to congratulate St John’s who were so excited on winning the Junior Challenge Cup. I was so pleased to see so many children having such a wonderful time, trying to win the trophies for the school. There were some very good skippers there and obviously a lot of children had been practicing hard for the event. Next year we hope to make the event even bigger as we have proved what fun the children can have skipping. I would also like to thank Hammersmith & Fulham Sports Development and school Sport Partnership for having the vision to see the benefits of skip2bfit, not only in improving fitness levels in children but also in the benefits of children seeing how easily they can improve, if they themselves put the effort in.”

The schools competed for a selection of trophies by skipping individual or in groups for 2 minutes to see how many skips they can do. The skip2bfit digi-ropes counts the number of skips and the scores are checked by adjudicators. The results were as follows for a 2 minute skip:-

  Juniors Infants
Quartet Cup (4 skippers) Larmenier & Sacred Heart (1119 skips) Larmenier & Sacred Heart (774 skips)
Double Cup (2 skippers) Larmenier & Sacred Heart (611 skips) Lena Gardens (409 skips)
